About Nexcell · The Wound Closure Company
A Practice Built Entirely Around Wound Healing
In His Own Words
The story behind New Mexico's first surgeon-led wound practice
Dr. Christopher Dominguez explains why a general surgeon walked away from the operating room to rebuild wound care from the ground up — the gap he kept seeing in chronic wounds, the model he designed to close it, and what that means for patients and facilities across New Mexico.
Our Story
Why We Built Nexcell
At Nexcell, we believe the best wound care begins with the best-trained hands — surgeons. Our model is simple but powerful: deliver surgeon-led wound care directly to skilled nursing facilities, long-term acute care hospitals, home-health agencies, community clinics, and outpatients in Albuquerque — across communities that have long been overlooked by traditional healthcare systems.
We're redefining what healing looks like by combining expert surgical debridement, advanced regenerative medicine, biologic grafting, data-driven protocols, and surgical oversight to close wounds faster, reduce complications, and restore lives.
At Nexcell, we don't just treat wounds. We build pathways to recovery, dignity, and long-term health — one patient at a time.
Today, Nexcell partners with skilled nursing facilities, LTACHs, home-health agencies, and community clinics throughout New Mexico — and now welcomes outpatients directly at our Albuquerque clinic with no provider referral required.

Our Approach
Methodical, Measured, Personal
Methodical, measured, and personal. Whether at the bedside or in our clinic, every visit starts with a structured assessment, photography, and measurement so progress is visible from one visit to the next.
Treatment plans are surgeon-led and built around the wound, the patient's health context, and what they can realistically follow at home or at their facility.
